There will be a food-packing event on Saturday, May 3 at the District Make Peace Visible Conference. The packs will support The Outreach Program (Ending Hunger Locally & Globally | Outreach Program) which feeds 1,200 at-risk children at schools they support in Tanzania. Our club will be donating our sgt at arms collections from Apr 3rd, 10th, and 17th. We hope to raise $80. Which covers the materials for one case, 216 meals. If you would like to donate but will not be at any of those meetings please reach out to Amanda, Scott, or Keith.
One of my key takeaways from NC PETS in March was the importance of trust in club leadership. As your leadership team, we are committed to transparency and keeping you informed about the work we’re doing.
When Schuyler had to step down in December, I told the board I would step up—but only with their help. They have been supportive throughout this transition, and I want to especially recognize Scott Mercer. Whether you call us co-presidents or refer to our succession terms, Scott and I, along with incoming President Nominee Molly Landgreen and our entire Board of Directors, are working as a true team to lead our club.
Across our district and Rotary International, there is a strong push for change as membership numbers decline. While we must explore new ways to attract and engage future members, I also believe our club has a strong foundation—one that may simply need a spark to reignite its momentum.
This is where you come in. I invite each of you to be part of this journey. Many of you have dedicated years of service to Rotary. Your experience, insights, and vision are invaluable. What are we passionate about? What do we want to accomplish as a club for our community and the world?
Please join our visioning session on April 10th to help shape our future. If you cannot attend, we still want to hear your thoughts. Please share them with any of us.
Let’s work together to strengthen our club, honor its legacy, and ensure its future success. Amanda
Amanda and Scott attended NC PETS Mar 13th -15th, an annual training event for incoming Presidents
and Presidents-Nominee in Districts 5580, 5950,5960, and 5970. It was full of fellowship with Rotarians from our area and being inspired by their clubs, district leadership, and keynote speakers. Stay tuned for all our take aways in the upcoming months and a new monthly email, a letter from leadership, to help keep you informed about all that is happening with your club leadership team.
We are looking for 15 members to join us on April 10th from 5:00pm - 9:00pm for our club visioning session. Sign up deadline is March 27th. Please sign up with the link below. Please Contact Amanda or Scott with questions.
Former Rotarian (and current Stillwater Trolley owner) Dick Zimmerman was my club sponsor, and I joined our Rotary Club in June of 1986 – my classification is “Bank Loan Officer”
Rotary has been a terrific place to make and maintain long friendships and serve our community. I have served on several committees throughout the years including coordinating the highway clean up (until we got kicked off the fairgrounds for drinking beer with our post pickup pizza party) and coordinating bell ringing. I also served as president of the club in ‘93-94.
Sara Wagner and I have been married for 36 years and live in Bayport (in the house I grew up in – kind of weird, I know). We have 2 adult children; Charley is married and lives in Mahtomedi MN, and Catherine lives in Brooklyn, NY.
I spent my entire career at First State Bank and Trust and retired 40+ years later as CEO in 2020. In addition to my Rotary membership, I currently serve as Board Chair of First State Bank and Trust, Board Chair of the Fred C. and Katherine B. Andersen Foundation, and a board member of the Andersen Corporation.
I graduated from Stillwater High School in 1976 and from the University of Minnesota in 1980 as a finance major. I briefly considered majoring in music in college and my conservative banker father counselled me by asking: “do you know the difference between a musician and a large pepperoni pizza?...............the pizza can feed a family of four.”
Sounds unfair as I have friends who make a good living in music; I think it was my dad’s subtle way of saying “you’re not that talented” I still “hack away” playing guitar, piano, and drums for fun.
The Service Committee hosted a volunteering opportunity at Valley Outreach last week. Thank you to our volunteers: Sharon, Tom, Patty, Lois, Katie, Molly, Clare, and Bev! Watch for more opportunities to volunteer in the community. The next Service Committee meeting will be on March 24th to discuss new ideas. If you’d like to attend the meeting, please contact Katie Bang.
