Please help us complete the ($10,000) challenge for matching funds to our Stillwater Rotary Fund at the St. Croix Valley Foundation. Everyone should participate and contribute. Donors of gifts of $500 or more will also receive Paul Harrisrecognition points. Annually, we are able to make grants using returns from the endowed funds.
We have a good strategic plan, but it is time to do some Visioning to help further define our actionable interests. This special event is being planned for Wednesday April 22nd from 4 to 8 pm at the Courage Center in Stillwater. Please mark your calendar and plan on participating. More info and sign will follow.
Last week we participated in Fast for Hope. Funds saved by a more modest luncheon and raised during Sargent-at-Arms will be donated to help those in need.
We also reviewed some of the past and benefits of the Rotary Foundation. Finally taking the lead of our president Kathy Elbert, there was an enthusiastic bell ringing contest. The winner was our Rotary Foreign Exchange student, Jimena Morales Rodriquez, who shared the bounty with her host family for Valentine's Day.
Stillwater Sunrise Rotary is starting a new networking group, and we are invited.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to briefly share information about our new network group that we are starting for our Stillwater Sunrise Rotary. It will be very casual and fun. Our emphasis will be to gain a better understanding of what kind of business our members are involved with. I believe it would be beneficial to include the Stillwater Noon club, to expand our network. I have also reached out to the Lake Elmo Rotary.
Our first meeting will be March 5th from 5:30-7:00pm at The Lakes at Stillwater. It’s a new senior community that is run by one of our members. It has a lovely bar area and this is where our gathering will be. There will be a cash bar open for refreshments. Please let your members know to bring business cards. We will have meetings the first Thursday of the month.
Please have anyone interested to rsvp, so we can get a head count: laurieacherry@yahoo.com

"Rotary and its partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative celebrated a milestone: confirmation that the type 3 strain of wild poliovirus has been eradicated globally. It is only the third human disease-causing pathogen that has ever been eradicated, after smallpox and the type 2 wild poliovirus strain. This means only the type 1 strain of wild poliovirus continues to affect children - a significant step toward the ultimate goal of eliminating polio altogether."(61)
As Scott Mercer discussed last week; here is the information for the Grants Management Seminars. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
I am pleased to announce the Grants Management Seminars for the 2020-21 Rotary year, and REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!
If your club has thought about sponsoring a District or Global Grant, the Grants Management Seminar (GMS) is a must attend! For your club to be qualified to sponsor a grant, one of the main contacts of the grant is required to attend a GMS. Even if your club doesn’t plan to sponsor a grant in 2020-21, I’d encourage you to have someone attend a GMS…you never know if a need arises, and it’s a great way to understand the process for the future.
This year, we have added a few new features:
A Grants Management Seminar online refresher course: if you (a member, not just someone from the club) has attended a GMS in one of the past two years, you can attend this webinar to cover the important features for this year.
We have added Global Grant Workshops for two reasons: 1) to gear the GMS more towards District Grants (and thus not having to cover so much information), and 2) to be able to help create a deeper understanding for Global Grant sponsors. If you are going to sponsor a Global Grant, YOU MUST ATTEND both the GMS and Global Grant Workshop.
Here are the details for the 2020-21 Grants Management Seminars and Global Grant Workshops:
