Last week's program was a Club Assembly led by Katie Rolf and Bob Eiselt, Membership Committee Co-Chairs. All attendees, being an important part of membership, were also participants. A few members answered the questions: "Why did you join Rotary/ What drove you here/ What keeps you here?" Dr. David Wick likes the opportunities to give back to the community and the different avenues of service, and getting to know the other Rotary members. He transferred from the Arden Hills club and likes our club's momentum. He noted that we do need to be more flexible to attract younger members. Jerry Maier enjoys the Rotary camaraderie and the exposure to the total community. Tracey Gallowitz joined 29 years ago, and was inducted with another first female member, Susan Nelson. Tracey, like others, originally joined for business reasons, but that's not why she stays. She enjoys Rotary for the great friendships, and expertise. This is demonstrated by her many invitations to friends to join. Nathan Pearson (President Elect) recently went to PETs, and has even more excitement and enthusiasm for Rotary than ever! He joined Rotary for both business and personal reasons and feels it is an honor to be on the board (although it is currently a seven year commitment.) Nathan discussed the four elements of being a Rotarian: Friendship, Personal Development, Business Development, and the Chance to Make a Difference in the World. |
