Stories
Last Week's Program
We heard from George Withbroe, a former rocket scientist who spent 40 years working in national and international space science programs.  George talked about his favorite object, the sun.  As a "space weatherman", George studied solar weather and it's effects on earth.  George retired from NASA in 2002 and was awarded the NASA Medal for Outstanding Leadership for working in international programs to study sun-earth connections.

Rotary In The Community
Our club will have a booth at the Community Showcase on April 14th from 10:00am - 4:00pm at SAHS. Not only is it a fun-filled community and family event, it is a great way to increase exposure for our club and provide community support.

Please consider signing up for a shift. There are 1-hour and 2-hour shifts available.  The signup sheet will be passed around at the meetings or contact Shelley if you're interested.

From District 5960

Our District 5960 Conference of Clubs will be held in April and promises to be the biggest party of the year!

You’ll have opportunities to interact with your fellow Rotarians, learn how we can continue to Make a Difference in all we do as Rotarians, and be moved to Be The Inspiration!

The conference is the evening of Thursday, April 19 and all Friday, April 20 at the NEW Mystic Lake Center at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel.  It’s a great venue for a great event, and you don’t want to miss it!

This week marks the end of Early Bird registration for the Conference of Clubs, so don’t delay!  You’ll get the best rate for registering for all or part of the Conference.  That’s right…we have ala carte pricing, so you only register for what you can attend!  There’s enough planned that you won’t want to miss any of it though!

So…if you think you may enjoy any of the following, the Conference of Clubs is for you:
  • Fun and friendship with your fellow Rotarians
  • Keynote speakers like American Refugee Committee CEO Daniel Wordsworth and former Rotary International President Bill Boyd (one of the most inspirational speakers in the Rotary world!)
  • A concert by Prairie Dog Fight Club…with a name like that, you KNOW they must be good!
  • Recognition of clubs in our inaugural District Awards program
  • 14 breakout sessions in different areas of interest, including the inbound Group Cultural Exchange Team from Israel and a session on the HCMC response to the 35W Bridge collapse and planning for Super Bowl LII.
  • …and much more!

Don’t delay…register today for the BEST pricing before the Early Bird discount goes away this Friday!
