President's Message
member photo
The official motto of Rotary is "Service Above Self."  There is a lot of uncertainty and changes in how we do things right now.  We could certainly use something positively!  We have so much to be thankful for and there is so much we can do during this time.  Let's stay connected.  We ask you to give us an update, thank someone who has made a difference or share your thoughts on something good!  Let's post these on Facebook -- send your message to me (Kathy), Shelley, or Katie.  Keep Safe!

Also - remember to help us complete the ($10,000) challenge for matching funds to our (Long Term) Stillwater Rotary Fund at the St. Croix Valley Foundation.  Everyone should participate and contribute.  Donors of gifts of $500 or more will also receive Paul Harris recognition points.    Annually, we are able to make grants using returns from the long term funds.

Meeting Tomorrow!
Due to popular demand, we are scheduling some virtual meetings at our regular meeting time. We will have some kind of program as well as an opportunity to weigh in with different things likes sergeant-at-arms. We hope you can join us!

Our first meeting will be tomorrow, April 9, and we will hear from Jimena, our inbound exchange student from Mexico, and Amanda, our (hopefully) outbound student to Brazil.

The following week, we will hear from Ted Wegleitner from Lakeview Hospital on the hospital's response to Covid-19.

It will not be perfect, but it will be good to see everyone and hear from each other.  You will be muted when you come on. It works best to leave yourself muted when you are not talking to reduce background noise. To unmute, you can either click "Unmute" in the top right corner or bottom left corner of your screen or press and hold the spacebar on your computer.

To join the meeting, you only need to click on the link: https://zoom.us/j/126337508

If you are joining by computer, all you need to do is click the link above.

If you are joining by smart phone or tablet, you will need to download the free Zoom app.

If you would like to join by landline, there is a phone number to call into that you will find below.

Feed our Heroes - Giving Back
Stillwater Chamber of Commerce - Giving Back

We are calling it Feed our Heroes and we will be launching it next week. We also started The Greater Valley Take Out Rally Facebook site to assist our restaurants and small businesses. We continue to connect businesses with each other and they are stepping up to work together.

Wills for Workers - Giving Back

Eckberg Lammers - Giving Back!

Eckberg Lammers is proud to introduce ‘Wills for Workers’ a FREE relief program available to healthcare providers and first responders (including paramedics, police officers, and firefighters) in the St. Croix Valley, who are on the frontline during this pandemic.

These heroes are risking their health and welfare every day to help and serve others in the community. Now it is our turn to give something back and give them one less thing to worry about as they fight this disease. That is why, if you or someone you know is a healthcare provider or first responder – servicing or living in the St. Croix Valley we are offering FREE basic Estate Planning Services, including:

  •       Wills
  •       Powers of Attorney
  •       Healthcare Directives
  •       HIPPA Releases
  •       Electronic Authorizations

Our estate planning team delivers custom estate planning services specific to individual needs so they can enjoy peace of mind both during and after this pandemic.

For more information regarding this program or instructions on how to apply visit our website or for the full press release click here.

Help Needed - STRIVE scholarships
It's that time of year to award the STRIVE Mentoring scholarships to SAHS seniors who have submitted an application & project for the awards.

I am looking for 5-7 Rotarians from the Sunrise, Noon and Lake Elmo clubs who would be willing to serve on the scholarship review committee:
Apr 13--Brent will send scholarship applications & projects to committee members
Week of April 14-20--committee members will review the six applications.
Apr 20, 4:30pm--Brent will convene the committee at 4:30 in an online (Zoom) conference call to discuss the applications and vote on the awards.
At maximum, this will be a 3-hour commitment.

Current STRIVE mentors are not eligible to serve on this scholarship committee so as to take bias out of the awards process.

Reminder, all three clubs are contributing to this year's scholarships:
Stillwater Sunrise $9,000, Stillwater Noon $1,000, Lake Elmo $3,000.

If you are willing and able to serve on the committe and are available to join us on a Zoom call Mon Apr 20 4:30, please email me at brentv@usfamily.net by end of day Sun Apr 12.
